“Before meeting James Wilson at a seminar and deciding to work out with Elite Training Solutions I had tried working out on my own. As an avid cyclist and tennis player I wanted to stay strong so I could continue to perform at a reasonable level. Like so many others I had been doing the machine circuits and found that this routine actually caused me a lot of pain in my upper back, low back and neck.

James told me how machines actually caused joint problems and explained how bodyweight and free weight based exercises were a much better choice. He also showed me how I had no strength or control in my upper back and how this was causing my bad posture and neck pain. Within a few weeks I could already tell a difference and now that I have been consistent with my training for several months my upper back, low back and neck issues have all improved significantly.

As an added bonus James made me do strength training for my legs. I had thought I got plenty of training as a cyclist but I was dead wrong. Those single leg squats showed me just how weak my legs really were and I have now gained significant strength and quickness. I can now get to balls better in tennis and I have more leg drive on my bike.

I knew that I was missing something in my mountain bike training. I had been racing mountain bikes for a couple of years and knew that to get to that next level, I really needed to incorporate a strength training program. I had heard of James and his MTB strength training program and thought it sounded like a very different, innovative approach to strength training and that I might even enjoy it! I had tried strength training in the past, but without really knowing what to do, how  to do it correctly, and how to keep it fresh and fun (probably most important!), I would quickly bore of it and quit.

My first true test after starting my program with Elite Training Solutions, was my first single-speed mountain bike ride of the season. In the past, when spring came around and I would start riding again, I have always had to “build” up to single-speeding. Last spring, (I had been working out with James for a few months), I decided to just jump on my single speed and give it a shot. I was completely surprised and thrilled by my performance. I truly felt like I hadn’t just spent most of the winter off my bike. On my first ride of the season  (single speeding, no less!)  I had picked up right where I had left off!  That was when I truly knew I was hooked!

I have also had minor back problems in the past; specifically, lower back pain with some sciatica.  After working out with James for over a year now, I can say it is a very rare occurrence for me to have any pain at all. Aches and pains that come with running and biking (knees and hips) have gone away. Overall, I am more physically fit than I have been in years  and know it has to do with the strength training program.

Other than sharing my own experience as I have mentioned above, I would say that Elite Training Solutions can offer something that other trainers and certainly no gyms can. “I heard about Elite Fitness Solutions through a friend who trained with them. Knowing that I was serious about working out he told me that it was a very unique and challenging approach to fitness. I came in for a consultation and was impressed from the start.

Before training at Elite Fitness Solutions I tried doing my own thing. I lifted on the machines 3 days a week, did cardio and abs 3-4 times per week and spent about 5-6 hours per week at the gym.
